ââ¬Å"Of course they arenââ¬â¢t helping,â⬠Adia groaned, slamming the door to Heronââ¬â¢s Hideaway shut. It was our last midnight patrol for the week of camp, and it was supposed to be easy. Julia and Mack laughed, while Adia and I clung to the safety bars desperately. ââ¬Å"It didnââ¬â¢t work as well as it did this morning,â⬠Mack whined, driving the cart back up the hill and onto the road. ââ¬Å"What were you trying to do?â⬠I asked, slightly baffled. ââ¬Å"Cherry sent me down here early this morning, and the grass had been wet from the rain, and I turned the wheel and the entire back of the cart slid around.â⬠She spun her finger around in a loop. ââ¬Å"It was cool.â⬠Adia and I look at each other again, this time more disoriented than afraid.
